ZO2 [1] has released three [2] albums since its inception. ZO2 was invited to open for Kiss and Poison on their 40-city national VH-1 sponsored "Rock the Nation" tour.[3]
ZO2's IFC 10-episode comedy series, Z Rock, starring the band and inspired by their real life dichotomy in which they "paid the rent" by playing for wealthy families' kids parties during the day while struggling to make it as a rock band at night, premiered in August 2008 to rave reviews and debuted as the network's highest rated original series. In format, the series is likened to Curb Your Enthusiasm as the story lines are written but the dialogue is improvised, and the band members are portraying highly exaggerated versions of themselves. The show features notable guest appearances from all arms in the world of entertainment such as Joan Rivers, John Popper, Chris Jericho, Dave Attel, Dave Navarro, Dee Snyder, Daryl Hall and Gilbert Gottfried, to name a few. The Hollywood Reporter hailed Z Rock as "effortlessly, genuinely hilarious." TV Guide claims "Z Will Rock You!...In short, Z rocks!" Z Rock's second season premiered in June 2009.
Paulie Z plays guitar, and is essentially the front-man of the group. At one time, he sang many of the song parodies featured on Howard Stern's radio program. His younger brother David Z plays bass, and his past credentials include working as bassist for Joan Jett, and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Drummer Joey Cassata had played for the Las Vegas company of the famous Blue Man Group. All three share vocals.
